³ Do nothing ^[a]from ^[b](A)selfishness or ^(B)empty conceit, but with humility ^(C)consider one another as more important than yourselves; ^4 (D)do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. ^5 (E)Have this attitude ^[c]in yourselves which was also in ^(F)Christ Jesus, ⁶ who, as He already ^(G)existed in the ^(H)form of God, ^(I)did not consider equality with God something to be ^[d]grasped, ⁷ but ^[e](J)emptied Himself by taking the form of a ^(K)bond-servant and ^[f](L)being born in the likeness of men.

^17 (A)Never repay evil for evil to anyone. ^[a](B)Respect what is right in the sight of all people. ¹⁸ If possible, ^(C)so far as it depends on you, ^(D)be at peace with all people. ^19 (E)Never take your own revenge, beloved, but ^[b]leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: “^(F)Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. ²⁰ “^(G)But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” ²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹² and we labor, ^(A)working with our own hands; when we are ^(B)verbally abused, we bless; when we are ^(C)persecuted, we endure it; ¹³ when we are slandered, we ^[a]reply as friends; we have ^(D)become as the scum of the world, the dregs of all things, even until now.

⁷ Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. ^(A)Why not rather suffer the wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?

^9 (A)not returning evil for evil or ^(B)insult for insult, but giving a ^(C)blessing instead; for ^(D)you were called for the very purpose that you would ^(E)inherit a blessing.
