Psalm 34:11-20

New International Version

¹¹Come, my children, listen^(A) to me;
    I will teach you^(B) the fear of the Lord.^(C)
¹²Whoever of you loves life^(D)
    and desires to see many good days,
¹³keep your tongue^(E) from evil
    and your lips from telling lies.^(F)
¹⁴Turn from evil and do good;^(G)
    seek peace^(H) and pursue it.

¹⁵The eyes of the Lord^(I) are on the righteous,^(J)
and his ears are attentive^(K) to their cry;
¹⁶but the face of the Lord is against^(L) those who do evil,^(M)
to blot out their name^(N) from the earth.

¹⁷The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears^(O) them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
¹⁸The Lord is close^(P) to the brokenhearted^(Q)
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

¹⁹The righteous person may have many troubles,^(R)
but the Lord delivers him from them all;^(S)
²⁰he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.^(T)

Colossians 3:12-17

¹²Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves^(A) with compassion, kindness, humility,^(B) gentleness and patience.^(C) ¹³Bear with each other^(D) and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.^(E) ¹⁴And over all these virtues put on love,^(F) which binds them all together in perfect unity.^(G)

¹⁵Let the peace of Christ^(H) rule in your hearts, since as members of one body^(I) you were called to peace.^(J) And be thankful. ¹⁶Let the message of Christ^(K) dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom^(L) through psalms,^(M) hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.^(N) ¹⁷And whatever you do,^(O) whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks^(P) to God the Father through him.
