Build on the Rock^(A)

²⁴ “Therefore ^(B)whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: ²⁵ and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

²⁶ “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: ²⁷ and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

¹⁹ Nevertheless ^(A)the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord ^(B)knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of ^[a]Christ depart from iniquity.”

^10 (A)According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid ^(B)the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. ¹¹ For no other foundation can anyone lay than ^(C)that which is laid, ^(D)which is Jesus Christ.

^10 (A)to the intent that now ^(B)the ^[a]manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church ^(C)to the ^[b]principalities and powers in the heavenly places, ^11 (D)according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,

A Cornerstone in Zion

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord God:

⁵ you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ⁶ Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,

⁷ Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who ^[a]are disobedient,

¹⁰ let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, ^(A)that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, ^(B)whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. ¹¹ This is the ^(C)‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ ^12 (D)Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

¹⁵ Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, ¹⁶ and said: ^(A)“By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— ¹⁷ blessing I will ^(B)bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants ^(C)as the stars of the heaven ^(D)and as the sand which is on the seashore; and ^(E)your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. ^18 (F)In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, ^(G)because you have obeyed My voice.”
