^16 (A)All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, ^(B)and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for ^[a]instruction in righteousness, ^17 (C)that the man of God may be complete, ^(D)thoroughly equipped for every good work.

²⁰ knowing this first, that ^(A)no prophecy of Scripture is of any private ^[a]interpretation, ²¹ for ^(B)prophecy never came by the will of man, ^(C)but ^[b]holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

The Gift of His Peace

²⁵ “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. ²⁶ But ^(A)the ^[a]Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will ^(B)send in My name, ^(C)He will teach you all things, and bring to your ^(D)remembrance all things that I said to you.

The Coming Rejection

^26 (A)“But when the ^[a]Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, ^(B)He will testify of Me. ²⁷ And ^(C)you also will bear witness, because ^(D)you have been with Me from the beginning.

¹² “I still have many things to say to you, ^(A)but you cannot bear them now. ¹³ However, when He, ^(B)the Spirit of truth, has come, ^(C)He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. ^14 (D)He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

Promises to Abram^(A)

12 Now the ^(B)Lord had said to Abram:

A New Covenant

³¹ “Behold, the ^(A)days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— ³² not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that ^(B)I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, ^[a]though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. ^33 (C)But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: ^(D)I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their ^[b]hearts; ^(E)and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. ³⁴ No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for ^(F)they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For ^(G)I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

A New Covenant^(A)

⁷ For if that ^(B)first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. ⁸ Because finding fault with them, He says: ^(C)“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— ⁹ not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. ¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the ^(D)Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and ^(E)I will be their God, and they shall be My people. ^11 (F)None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the ^(G)Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. ¹² For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, ^(H)and their sins ^[a]and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

^13 (I)In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
