¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ^(A)“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. ^19 (B)Go ^[a]therefore and ^(C)make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ^20 (D)teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am ^(E)with you always, even to the end of the age.” ^[b]Amen.

³⁶ Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. ^(A)What hinders me from being baptized?”

^37 [a]Then Philip said, ^(B)“If you believe with all your heart, you may.”

And he answered and said, ^(C)“I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

³⁸ So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.

^17 (A)And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and ^(B)laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord ^[a]Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and ^(C)be filled with the Holy Spirit.” ¹⁸ Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.

¹⁹ So when he had received food, he was strengthened. ^(D)Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.

The Holy Spirit Falls on the Gentiles

⁴⁴ While Peter was still speaking these words, ^(A)the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. ^45 (B)And ^[a]those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, ^(C)because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. ⁴⁶ For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.

Then Peter answered, ⁴⁷ “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit ^(D)just as we have?” ^48 (E)And he commanded them to be baptized ^(F)in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

³⁸ Then Peter said to them, ^(A)“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the ^[a]remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁶ And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, ^(A)and wash away your sins, ^(B)calling on the name of the Lord.’

¹⁴ I thank God that I baptized ^(A)none of you except ^(B)Crispus and ^(C)Gaius, ¹⁵ lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name. ¹⁶ Yes, I also baptized the household of ^(D)Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other. ¹⁷ For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, ^(E)not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

6 What shall we say then? ^(A)Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? ² Certainly not! How shall we who ^(B)died to sin live any longer in it? ³ Or do you not know that ^(C)as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus ^(D)were baptized into His death? ⁴ Therefore we were ^(E)buried with Him through baptism into death, that ^(F)just as Christ was raised from the dead by ^(G)the glory of the Father, ^(H)even so we also should walk in newness of life.

^5 (I)For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,

^4 (A)There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; ^5 (B)one Lord, ^(C)one faith, ^(D)one baptism; ^6 (E)one God and Father of all, who is above all, and ^(F)through all, and in ^[a]you all.
