³⁵ Then the Lord told Moses, “The man is to be put to death. The entire community is to stone him outside the camp.”^(A)

²¹ They^(A) forced a man coming in from the country, who was passing by, to carry Jesus’s cross.^(B) He was Simon of Cyrene,^(C) the father of Alexander and Rufus.^(D)

The Way to the Cross

²⁶ As^(A) they led him away, they seized Simon, a Cyrenian,^(B) who was coming in from the country, and laid the cross^(C) on him to carry behind Jesus.

¹² Therefore, Jesus also suffered outside the gate,^(A) so that he might sanctify^[a] the people by his own blood.
