There are threescore queens and fourscore concubines and virgins without number.

There are sixty queens and eighty concubines, as well as young women beyond number;
What if I could have sixty queens, eighty wives, and thousands of others!
There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, And virgins without number:
One is my dove, my perfect one is but one, she is the only one of her mother, the chosen of her that bore her. The daughters saw her, and declared her most blessed: the queens and concubines, and they praised her.
There might be 60 queens and 80 slave women, and young women too many to count,
There are sixty queens and eighty concubines, and virgins without number.

I have sixty other wives, all queens, and eighty concubines, and unnumbered virgins available to me;
There’s no one like her on earth, never has been, never will be. She’s a woman beyond compare. My dove is perfection, Pure and innocent as the day she was born, and cradled in joy by her mother. Everyone who came by to see her exclaimed and admired her— All the fathers and mothers, the neighbors and friends, blessed and praised her:

Even among sixty queens and eighty concubines and countless young women,

There are threescore melakhot (queens), and fourscore pilagshim (concubines), and alamot (young unmarried virgins) without number [T.N. Alamot is plural of almah, "virgin," alamot, "virgins;" see Shir HaShirim 1:3; Yeshayah 7:14; Bereshis 24:43; Shemot 2:8; Mishlei 30:19 where the word means explicitly or implicitly "virgin" and where "young woman" is not an adequate rendering, in this case, since the King was hardly interested in only young women in his harem, but demanded "virgins"; the older Jewish translations like Harkavy’s so translated the word as "virgin" in this verse until it became politically incorrect to do so in later, more liberal Jewish translations into English].
