Sirach 29:7
Many have refused to make a loan, not because they were vicious but because they were cautious about being needlessly cheated.
And if he be able to pay, he will stand off, he will scarce pay one half, and will count it as if he had found it:
Many people refuse to lend at all, not because they are stingy, but because they don't want to be cheated if they can avoid it.
Many refuse to lend, not out of meanness, but from fear of being cheated needlessly.
Many refuse to lend, not because of meanness, but from fear of being defrauded needlessly.
Many refuse to lend, not because of meanness, but from fear of being defrauded needlessly.
Many refuse to lend, not because of meanness, but from fear of being defrauded needlessly.
Many refuse to lend, not because of meanness, but from fear of being defrauded needlessly.
Because of such wickedness, therefore, many have refused to lend; they have been afraid of being defrauded needlessly.
Because of such wickedness, therefore, many have refused to lend; they have been afraid of being defrauded needlessly.
Many men lend not, not for cause of wickedness, but they dreaded to be defrauded without cause. [Many, not because of shrewdness (or depravity), lend not, but to be beguiled willfully, they dreaded.]
