Save me, O God, for the waters have come in unto my soul.
For the Chief Musician; set to Shoshannim. A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; For the waters are come in unto my soul.
To the Chief Musician; set to [the tune of] “Lilies.” A Psalm of David. Save me, O God, For the waters have threatened my life [they have come up to my neck].
Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck [they threaten my life].
To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.
For the choir director: according to “The Lilies.” Of David. Save me, God, for the water has risen to my neck.
Save me, God, because the waters have reached my neck!
For the leader. Set to “Lilies.” By David:

To the chief Musician. Upon Shoshannim. [A Psalm] of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto [my] soul.
Unto the end, a psalm for David, to bring to remembrance that the Lord saved him.
To the director: To the tune “The Lilies.” A song of David. God, save me from all my troubles! The rising water has reached my neck.
David wrote this song for the music leader. Use special music. Please rescue me, God, because the deep water has come up to my neck.

1 The complaints, prayers, fervent zeal and great anguish of David is set forth as a figure of Christ and all his members. 21 The malicious cruelty of the enemies. 22 And their punishment also. 26 Where Judas and such traitors are accursed. 30 He gathereth courage in his affliction, and offereth praises unto God, 32 Which are more acceptable than all sacrifices: whereof all the afflicted may take comfort. 35 Finally, he doth provoke all creatures to praises, prophesying of the kingdom of Christ, and the preservation of the Church, where all the faithful, 27 And their seed shall dwell forever. To him that excelleth upon Shoshannim. A Psalm of David. Save me, O God: for the waters are entered even to my soul.
