He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul, but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul; But he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.
He who neglects and ignores instruction and discipline despises himself, But he who learns from rebuke acquires understanding [and grows in wisdom].
He who refuses and ignores instruction and correction despises himself, but he who heeds reproof gets understanding.

Anyone who ignores discipline despises himself, but whoever listens to correction acquires good sense.
Those who refuse discipline despise themselves, but those who listen to correction gain understanding.
He who spurns discipline detests himself, but he who listens to correction grows in understanding.
You hurt only yourself by rejecting instruction, but it makes good sense to accept it.

If you refuse to be corrected, you are only hurting yourself. Listen to criticism, and you will gain understanding.
If you refuse to accept it when people warn you, you are hurting yourself. But if you agree to listen, you will learn to do what is right.
A person who ignores discipline despises himself, but a person who listens to a warning acquires good sense.
