And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then say the scribes that Elijah must first come?”

The disciples asked Him, “Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

The talmidim asked him, “Then why do the Torah-teachers say that Eliyahu must come first?”
The disciples asked Jesus, “Don’t the teachers of the Law of Moses say that Elijah must come before the Messiah does?”
And [his] disciples demanded of him saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first have come?
And the disciples questioned Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
And his disciples asked him, saying: Why then do the scribes say that Elias must come first?
The followers asked Jesus, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come before the Messiah comes?”
And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?”
And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?”
Then his ·followers [disciples] asked him, “Why do the ·teachers of the law [scribes] say that Elijah must come first [C that is, before the Messiah comes; Mal. 3:1; 4:5]?”
And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the Scribes that Elijah must first come?
So the disciples asked him, “Why do the experts in Moses’ Teachings say that Elijah must come first?”
Then the disciples asked Jesus, “Why do the teachers of the Law say that Elijah has to come first?”
So the disciples questioned Him, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
The followers asked Jesus, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first, before the Christ comes?”
So the disciples asked him, “Why, then, do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
On their way down the hill-side Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about what they had seen until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead. Then the disciples demanded, “Why is it, then, that the scribes always say Elijah must come first?”
Then his disciples asked him, saying, Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?
And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
And the disciples asked him, saying, “Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
His disciples asked, “Why do the Jewish leaders insist Elijah must return before the Messiah comes?”
The disciples, meanwhile, were asking questions. “Why do the religion scholars say that Elijah has to come first?”
His disciples asked Him, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
And the disciples asked him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
So the disciples asked him, “Why do the experts in Moses’ Teachings say that Elijah must come first?”

And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
The followers asked Jesus, “Then why do the teachers of the Law say that Elijah must come first?”
Then his disciples asked him, “Why do the teachers of religious law insist that Elijah must return before the Messiah comes?”
And the disciples asked him, “Why, then, do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
And the disciples asked him, ‘Why, then, do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?’
And the disciples asked him, ‘Why, then, do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?’
And the disciples asked him, “Why, then, do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
‘So why’, asked the disciples, ‘do the scribes say that “Elijah must come first”?’
And Moshiach’s talmidim asked him, saying, Why then do the Sofrim say that it is necessary for Eliyahu HaNavi to come first?
And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Eli′jah must come?”
And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Eli′jah must come?”
The disciples questioned Him, saying, “Why then do the Torah scholars say that Elijah must come first?”
Disciples: Master, why do the scribes teach that the prophet Elijah must come first?
His disciples asked him, saying, “Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
The disciples asked him, `Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?'
And his disciples asked him, and said, What then say the scribes, that it behooveth that Elias come first? [And his disciples asked him, saying, What therefore say scribes, that it behooveth Elias first come?]
And his disciples questioned him, saying, `Why then do the scribes say that Elijah it behoveth to come first?'
