The descendants of Manasseh could not possess these cities, because the Canaanites were determined to stay in this land.
The people of Manasseh couldn’t take over these cities, and the Canaanites were determined to live in this land.
But the descendants of M’nasheh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; the Kena‘ani wanted to stay in that land.
But the people of Manasseh could not capture these towns, so the Canaanites kept on living in them.
But the children of Manasseh could not dispossess [the inhabitants of] those cities; and the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
Neither could the children of Manasses overthrow these cities, but the Chanaanite began to dwell in his land.
The people of Manasseh were not able to defeat those cities. So the Canaanites continued to live there.
But the men of Manasseh could not chase out the people who lived in those cities. So the Canaanite people continued to live there.

Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

But the sons of Manasseh could not take possession of these cities because the Canaanites persisted in living in that land.
But the descendants of Manasseh were not able to take possession of these towns; the Canaanites were determined to live in this land.
But since the descendants of Manasseh could not drive out the people who lived in those cities, the Canaanites remained.
The people of Manasseh never were able to take over these towns—the Canaanites wouldn’t budge. But later, when the Israelites got stronger, they put the Canaanites to forced labor. But they never did get rid of them. * * *

But the people of Manasseh weren’t able to take over those towns. That’s because the Canaanites had made up their minds to live in that area.
Yet the Manassites were not able to occupy these towns, for the Canaanites were determined to live in that region.
