Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.
There was at the table reclining in Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
One of His disciples, whom Jesus loved (esteemed), was leaning against Jesus’ chest.
One of His disciples, whom Jesus loved [whom He esteemed and delighted in], was reclining [next to Him] on Jesus’ bosom.
Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

Jesus' favorite disciple was sitting next to him at the meal,
Now there was at table one of his disciples in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved.

At this the disciples stared at each other, completely mystified as to whom he could mean. And it happened that one of them who Jesus loved, was sitting very close to him. So Simon Peter nodded to this man and said, “Tell us who he means.”
And one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was seated at the table beside Jesus.

Since I was sitting next to Jesus* at the table, being his closest friend,
The disciples looked around at one another, wondering who on earth he was talking about. One of the disciples, the one Jesus loved dearly, was reclining against him, his head on his shoulder. Peter motioned to him to ask who Jesus might be talking about. So, being the closest, he said, “Master, who?”

One of His disciples, whom Yeshua loved, was reclining at His side.
One disciple in particular, who was loved by Jesus, reclined next to Him at the table.
One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was at the table, leaning against Jesus’ breast.
The disciple Jesus loved was at his right side.
And so one of his disciples was resting in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved.
And there was one of his disciples reclining (at meat) in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus was loving;
