Isaiah 8:22
and they shall look unto the earth and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish, and they shall be driven to darkness.
and they shall look unto the earth, and, behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and into thick darkness they shall be driven away.
Then they will look to the earth, they will see only distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be driven away into darkness and overwhelming night.
Or look to the earth, they will behold only distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish, and into thick darkness and widespread, obscure night they shall be driven away.
And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.
They will look toward the earth and see only distress, darkness, and the gloom of affliction, and they will be driven into thick darkness.
and look to the earth, but they will see only distress and darkness, random movement, and the anguish and doom of banishment.
or [down] at the earth, they will see only trouble and darkness, anguished gloom and pervasive darkness.
and on earth, they will find only trouble and darkness, terrible trouble and deepest darkness.
and they will look to the earth; and behold, trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they shall be driven into thick darkness.
And they shall look to the earth, and behold trouble and darkness, weakness and distress, and a mist following them, and they cannot fly away from their distress.
And when the captives turn their faces to the ground, there is only a depressing darkness closing in—the dark sadness of people forced to leave their country.
They will look down at the earth, but they will only see trouble. Everywhere will be dark and people will have no hope. Then they will fall into complete darkness.
and then they will look down to the ground, but I tell you, they will see only distress, darkness, and the gloom that brings anguish. They will be banished into thick darkness.
And they will look to the earth, but behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish. And they will be thrust into thick darkness.

They will look around them at their land and see only ·trouble [distress], darkness, and awful gloom. And they will be forced into the darkness.
And when he shall look to the earth, behold trouble, and darkness, vexation, and anguish, and he is driven to darkness.

Wherever they look there will be trouble and anguish and dark despair. And they will be thrust out into the darkness.”
When people tell you, “Try out the fortunetellers. Consult the spiritualists. Why not tap into the spirit-world, get in touch with the dead?” Tell them, “No, we’re going to study the Scriptures.” People who try the other ways get nowhere—a dead end! Frustrated and famished, they try one thing after another. When nothing works out they get angry, cursing first this god and then that one, Looking this way and that, up, down, and sideways—and seeing nothing, A blank wall, an empty hole. They end up in the dark with nothing.
Then they shall look to the earth and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish. And they shall be driven away into darkness.
They will look at the earth and see only distress and gloom. They will go in anguish and be forced into darkness.
and will gaze at the earth, But will see only distress and darkness, oppressive gloom, murky, without light.
Then they will look to the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be driven away into darkness.

When one looks out over the land, he sees distress and darkness, gloom and anxiety, darkness and people forced from the land.
Then they will look at the earth. They’ll see nothing but suffering and darkness. They’ll see terrible sadness. They’ll be driven into total darkness.
Then they will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom, and they will be thrust into utter darkness.

And it shall look to the earth, and lo! tribulation, and darknesses, and unbinding, either discomfort, and anguish, and mist (all) pursuing (it); and it shall not be able to flee away from his anguish. (And they shall look about the earth, and lo! tribulation, and darkness, and unbinding, or discomfort, and anguish, and mist, all pursuing them; and they shall not be able to flee away from all their anguish.)
And unto the land it looketh attentively, And lo, adversity and darkness! -- Dimness, distress, and thick darkness is driven away, But not the dimness for which she is in distress!
