But he is wise and can bring them disaster. He does not ·change his warnings [take back his words]. He will rise up and fight against the ·evil people [L house of evildoers] and against those who try to help ·evil people [sinners; workers of iniquity].
But it is the Lord who is wise and who can bring them trouble. He does not change his warnings. He will rise up and fight against the evil people. And he will fight against those who try to help evil people.
Doom to those who go off to Egypt thinking that horses can help them, Impressed by military mathematics, awed by sheer numbers of chariots and riders— And to The Holy of Israel, not even a glance, not so much as a prayer to God. Still, he must be reckoned with, a most wise God who knows what he’s doing. He can call down catastrophe. He’s a God who does what he says. He intervenes in the work of those who do wrong, stands up against interfering evildoers. Egyptians are mortal, not God, and their horses are flesh, not Spirit. When God gives the signal, helpers and helped alike will fall in a heap and share the same dirt grave.
Yet He also is chacham (wise), and will bring rah (disaster), and will not call back His devarim; but will arise against the Bais Mere’im (house of evildoers), and against the ezrat po’alei aven (the help of them that work iniquity).
God is both wise and willing to wreak disaster; He does not second guess Himself or backtrack on what He says. God will amass all divine power against those who do evil and against whoever aids and abets them.
Forsooth he that is wise, hath brought evil, and took not away his words; and he shall rise altogether against the house of worst men, and against the help of them that work wickedness. (For the Lord is wise, and he hath brought evil, or trouble, and did not take back his words; he shall rise up against the house of evil people, and against the help of those who work wickedness.)
