I’ll knock the wind out of the Egyptians. They won’t know coming from going. They’ll go to their god-idols for answers; they’ll conjure ghosts and hold séances, desperate for answers. But I’ll turn the Egyptians over to a tyrant most cruel. I’ll put them under the rule of a mean, merciless king.” Decree of the Master, God-of-the-Angel-Armies.

The Lord, the Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies, says, Eternal One: I will subject the Egyptians to oppressive forces and heartless leadership of a dictator-king. I will make them turn against each other, Egyptian against Egyptian, a civil war, Right down to the houses within a neighborhood— city against city, district against district. They’ll lose all courage and I’ll frustrate their plans. They’ll seek the advice of long dead ancestors and empty idols, mediums and fortune-tellers. But it is I who determine their fate.
I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel lord. A fierce king will rule over them,” says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.
And I shall betake Egypt into the hand of cruel lords, and a strong king shall be lord of them, saith the Lord God of hosts. (And I shall deliver Egypt into the hands of cruel lords, or cruel masters, and a strong king shall be lord over them, saith the Lord God of hosts.)
