But the pride and self-reliance of Israel testifies before his [own] face. Therefore shall [all] Israel, and [especially] Ephraim [the northern ten tribes], totter and fall in their iniquity and guilt, and Judah shall stumble and fall with them.
Israel’s ·pride [arrogance] testifies against them. ·The people of Israel [L Israel and Ephraim; 4:17] will stumble because of their ·sin [iniquity], and ·the people of Judah [L Judah] will stumble with them.
“Bloated by arrogance, big as a house, they’re a public disgrace, The lot of them—Israel, Ephraim, Judah— lurching and weaving down their guilty streets. When they decide to get their lives together and go off looking for God once again, They’ll find it’s too late. I, God, will be long gone. They’ve played fast and loose with me for too long, filling the country with their bastard offspring. A plague of locusts will devastate their violated land.
And the boast of Israel shall answer into the face thereof, and Israel and Ephraim shall fall in their wickedness; also Judah shall fall with them. (And the boast of Israel crieth out against them, and Israel, yea, Ephraim, shall fall by their own wickedness; and Judah shall fall with them.)
