After mounting a vigorous attack, they gained control of all the sites and held off those fighting on the wall. They slaughtered all those they encountered, killing at least twenty thousand.
And assaulting them with great force, won the holds, killed them that came in the way, and slew altogether no fewer than twenty thousand.
They beat back those who were defending the walls and captured the fortresses, killing everyone they found, a total of about 20,000 people.
Attacking vigorously, they gained control of the places, drove back all who were fighting on the walls, and cut down those who opposed them, killing no fewer than twenty thousand.
