2 Thessalonians 3:9
not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an example unto you to follow us.
not because we have not the right, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you, that ye should imitate us.
not because we do not have a right to such support, but [we provided our own financial support] to offer ourselves as a model for you, so that you would follow our example.
[It was] not because we do not have a right [to such support], but [we wished] to make ourselves an example for you to follow.
Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
We did this to give you an example to imitate, not because we didn’t have a right to insist on financial support.
It was not that we hadn’t the right to be supported, but so that we could make ourselves an example to imitate.
We had the right not to work, but we wanted to set an example for you.
not that we have not the right, but that we might give ourselves as an example to you, in order to your imitating us.
not because we do not have the right, but in order that we might give ourselves as a pattern to you, so that you may be imitating us.
Not as if we had not power: but that we might give ourselves a pattern unto you, to imitate us.
We had the right to ask you to help us. But we worked to take care of ourselves so that we would be an example for you to follow.
It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate.
It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate.
·We had [L It was not because we do not have] the right to ask you to help us, but we worked ·to take care of ourselves so we would [L in order to] be an example for you to ·follow [imitate].
Not because we have not authority, but that we might make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
It’s not as though we didn’t have a right to receive support. Rather, we wanted to set an example for you to follow.
We did this, not because we do not have the right to demand our support; we did it to be an example for you to follow.
It is not that we don’t have the right to support, but we did it to make ourselves an example to you so that you would imitate us.
We had the right to ask you to help us. But we worked to take care of ourselves so that we would be an example for you to follow.
It is not as though we did not have that right, but we wanted to give you an example to follow.
One further order we must give you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: don’t associate with the brother whose life is undisciplined, and who despises the teaching we gave him. You know well that we ourselves are your examples here, and that our lives among you were never undisciplined. We did not eat anyone’s food without paying for it. In fact we toiled and laboured night and day to avoid being the slightest expense to any of you. This was not because we had no right to ask our necessities of you, but because we wanted to set you an example. When we were actually with you we gave you this principle to work on: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” Now we hear that you have some among you living quite undisciplined lives, never doing a stroke of work, and busy only in other people’s affairs. Our order to such men, indeed our appeal by the Lord Jesus Christ, is to settle down to work and eat the food they have earned themselves.
Not because we did not have authority, but to give you an example that you might imitate us.
Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
not that we do not have the right, but so that we may give ourselves as an example to you, so that you may imitate us.
It wasn’t that we didn’t have the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to show you firsthand how you should work for your living.
Our orders—backed up by the Master, Jesus—are to refuse to have anything to do with those among you who are lazy and refuse to work the way we taught you. Don’t permit them to freeload on the rest. We showed you how to pull your weight when we were with you, so get on with it. We didn’t sit around on our hands expecting others to take care of us. In fact, we worked our fingers to the bone, up half the night moonlighting so you wouldn’t be burdened with taking care of us. And it wasn’t because we didn’t have a right to your support; we did. We simply wanted to provide an example of diligence, hoping it would prove contagious.
We did this, not because we did not have that right, but to make ourselves an example for you to follow.
not because we do not have the right, but in order to make ourselves an example for you to imitate.
It’s not as though we didn’t have a right to receive support. Rather, we wanted to set an example for you to follow.
Not that we do not have the right. Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you, so that you might imitate us.
not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you, so that you would follow our example.
We had the right to ask you to help us, but we worked to take care of ourselves so we would be an example for you to follow.
It was not because we do not have that right, but to give ourselves as an example for you to imitate.
We worked, even though we have the right to receive help from you. We did it in order to be a model for you to follow.
We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.
We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.
not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.
We could have asked you to give us food. But we did not so that you might follow our way of living.
We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow.
This was not because we do not have that right, but in order to give you an example to imitate.
This was not because we do not have that right, but in order to give you an example to imitate.
This was not because we do not have that right, but in order to give you an example to imitate.
This was not because we do not have that right, but in order to give you an example to imitate.
It wasn’t that we don’t have the right; it was so that we could give you an example, for you to copy us.
Not because we do not have the zchus (right), but in order that we impart ourselves as a mofet (role model) to you that you might imitate us.
It was not because we have not that right, but to give you in our conduct an example to imitate.
It was not because we have not that right, but to give you in our conduct an example to imitate.
It wasn’t that we had no right, but rather to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate.
We had the right to depend on your help and hospitality, as you know; but we wanted to give you a model you could follow, to lay a path of footprints for you to walk in.
not because we don’t have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us.
We have the right to be helped. But we wanted to show you what you should do in this matter.
Not as we had not power, but that we should give us selves [but that we should give ourselves] [an] ensample to you to follow us.
not because we have not authority, but that ourselves a pattern we might give to you, to imitate us;
