Was he not most honorable of three? Therefore he was their captain; however he attained not unto the first three.

and certainly just as famous as the rest of the Thirty Warriors. He was the commander of the Thirty Warriors, but he still did not become one of the Three Warriors.
Was he not most honourable of three? and he was their captain; but he did not attain to the [first] three.
And the noblest of three, and was their chief, but to the three first he attained not.
Abishai was as famous as the Three Heroes. He became their leader, even though he was not one of them.

Abishai received even more honor than the Three. He became their commander. But he was not a member of them.
He was more well-known than the Three, and became their commander, but he never measured up to the Three.
He was the most honourable of the three and captain among them; however, he did not attain unto the first three.

Among the thirty, is it not that he was honored and became a commander for them? But he did not come up to the three.
Of those three men, Abishai, the brother of Joab (son of Zeruiah), was the greatest. Once he took on three hundred of the enemy single-handed and killed them all. It was by such feats that he earned a reputation equal to the Three, though he was not actually one of them. But he was the greatest of the Thirty—the top-ranking officers of the army—and was their leader.

In fact, he was even more honored than the three mighty warriors. He became their commander. But he wasn’t included among them.

Was he not the most honored of three? Therefore he became their captain. However, he did not attain to the first three.
He was the most honored of the thirty. So he became their captain. But he was not as strong as the three.
