At this, Joab sounded his battle trumpet and his troops stopped pursuing the other Israelis.

Joab then blew the ram’s horn trumpet, calling off the army in its pursuit of Israel. They took Absalom, dumped him into a huge pit in the forest, and piled an immense mound of rocks over him. Meanwhile the whole army of Israel was in flight, each man making his own way home.
When Joab blew the horn, the people returned from pursuing Israel, for Joab held back the people.

Joab then sounded the horn, and the soldiers turned back from the pursuit of the Israelites, because Joab called them to halt.

After that, Joab ordered the trumpet to be sounded, and the soldiers ceased their pursuit of Israel because he had ordered them to halt.
Then Joab blew the trumpet, so the troops stopped chasing the Israelites.
Then Joab blew the trumpet and the army turned back from chasing Israel, for Joab had called for the army to halt.
Then Joab blew his trumpet. He ordered his troops to stop chasing Israel’s army.
Then Joab sounded the trumpet, and the troops stopped pursuing Israel, for Joab halted them.

So Joab blew the trumpet, and the people returned from pursuing Israel. For Joab held back the people.

Then Joab blew the shofar and the troops returned from pursuing Israel, for Joab held back the troops.
Then Joab sounded the trumpet and pulled back the soldiers from their pursuit of the army of Israel, because Joab knew no good would come of further fighting.
Joab blew the trumpet, and the people returned from pursuing after Israel; for Joab held the people back.
And Joab trumped with a clarion, and held with him the people, lest it pursued Israel fleeing, and he would spare the multitude. (And then Joab sounded with a trumpet, to hold back the army with him, lest they pursued the men of Israel fleeing away, for he would spare the multitude.)
And Joab bloweth with a trumpet, and the people turneth back from pursuing after Israel, for Joab hath kept back the people;
