2 Maccabees 2:1
One finds in the records that the prophet Jeremiah commanded those who were deported to take some of the fire, which is the story I’ve just related.
Now it is found in the descriptions of Jeremias the prophet, that he commanded them that went into captivity, to take the fire, as it hath been signified, and how he gave charge to them that were carried away into captivity.
We know from the records that Jeremiah the prophet instructed the people who were being taken into exile to hide some of the fire from the altar, as we have just mentioned.
In the records it will be found that Jeremiah the prophet ordered the deportees to take some of the fire with them as indicated,
