They ignored their ancestral honors and sought after Greek status symbols instead.
And setting nought by the honours of their fathers, they esteemed the Grecian glories for the best:
They did not care about anything their ancestors had valued; they prized only Greek honors.
What their ancestors had regarded as honors they despised; what the Greeks esteemed as glory they prized highly.
They showed no respect for what their ancestors had regarded as honorable and placed the greatest value on what the Greeks honored above all else.
disdaining the honours prized by their ancestors and putting the highest value upon Greek forms of prestige.
