2 Corinthians 11:17
(That which I now speak, I speak it not from the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence as boasting.
That which I speak, I speak not after the Lord, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of glorying.
What I say in this confident boasting, I say not as the Lord would [with His authority], but foolishly.
What I say by way of this confident boasting, I say not with the Lord’s authority [by inspiration] but, as it were, in pure witlessness.
That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
I’m not saying what I’m saying because the Lord tells me to. I’m saying it like I’m a fool. I’m putting my confidence in this business of bragging.
What I am saying is not in accordance with the Lord; rather, this conceited boasting is spoken as a fool would speak.
When I do all this bragging, I do it as a fool and not for the Lord.
What I speak I do not speak according to [the] Lord, but as in folly, in this confidence of boasting.
In this confidence of boasting, what I am speaking, I am not speaking according-to the Lord, but as in foolishness.
That which I speak, I speak not according to God, but as it were in foolishness, in this matter of glorying.
But I am not talking the way the Lord would talk. I am boasting like a fool.
What I am saying with this boastful confidence, I say not as the Lord would but as a fool.
What I am saying with this boastful confidence, I say not with the Lord's authority but as a fool.
·When I brag because I feel sure of myself [By boasting so confidently], I am not talking ·as the Lord would talk [or with the Lord’s authority; L according to the Lord] but as a fool.
That I speak, I speak it not after the Lord: but as it were foolishly, in this my great boasting.

I brag because I feel sure of myself. But I am not talking as the Lord would talk. I am bragging like a fool.
When I talk as a confident boaster, I am not talking with the Lord’s authority but like a fool.
I am not now speaking as the Lord commands me but as a fool who must be “in on” this business of boasting. Since all the others are so proud of themselves, let me do a little boasting as well. From your heights of superior wisdom I am sure you can smile tolerantly on a fool. Oh, you’re tolerant all right! You don’t mind, do you, if a man takes away your liberty, spends your money, makes a fool of you or even smacks your face? I am almost ashamed to say that I never did brave strong things like that to you. Yet in whatever particular they enjoy such confidence I (speaking as a fool, remember) have just as much confidence.
That which I speak, I speak it not according to the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of glory.
That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
What I am saying in this project of boasting, I am not saying as the Lord would say, but as in foolishness.
Such bragging isn’t something the Lord commanded me to do, for I am acting like a brainless fool.
Let me come back to where I started—and don’t hold it against me if I continue to sound a little foolish. Or if you’d rather, just accept that I am a fool and let me rant on a little. I didn’t learn this kind of talk from Christ. Oh, no, it’s a bad habit I picked up from the three-ring preachers that are so popular these days. Since you sit there in the judgment seat observing all these shenanigans, you can afford to humor an occasional fool who happens along. You have such admirable tolerance for impostors who rob your freedom, rip you off, steal you blind, put you down—even slap your face! I shouldn’t admit it to you, but our stomachs aren’t strong enough to tolerate that kind of stuff.
