1 Maccabees 2:9
Her glorious equipment has been taken away into exile. Her babies have been killed in her streets, her young people by the enemy’s sword.
The vessels of her glory are carried away captive: her old men are murdered in the streets, and her young men are fallen by the sword of the enemies.
Its splendid furnishings have been carried away as loot. Our children have been killed in the streets, and our young men by the sword of the enemy.
