He ran courageously into the midst of a group of soldiers to reach it, killing men right and left so that they had to give way to him on both sides.
And he ran up to it boldly in the midst of the legion, killing on the right hand, and on the left, and they fell by him on this side and that side.
He ran boldly toward the elephant, which was in the middle of a battalion of infantry. He rushed forward killing men to the right and left, so that the enemy soldiers fell back before him on both sides.
He dashed courageously up to it in the middle of the phalanx, killing men right and left, so that they parted before him.
