because he had heard that they were ready to hand over the fortress to people that Demetrius had sent. So he stationed a force there to occupy and guard it.
(For he heard that they designed to deliver the hold to them that took part with Demetrius,) and he put a garrison there to keep it.
and stationed a detachment of soldiers there because he had heard that the people were planning to hand over the fortress of Joppa to the soldiers of Demetrius.
