1 Corinthians 10:20
But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils and not to God; and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have communion with demons.
On the contrary, the things which the Gentiles (pagans) sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons [in effect], and not to God; and I do not want you to become partners with demons [by eating at feasts in pagan temples].
No, I am suggesting that what the pagans sacrifice they offer [in effect] to demons (to evil spiritual powers) and not to God [at all]. I do not want you to fellowship and be partners with diabolical spirits [by eating at their feasts].
But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
No, but this kind of sacrifice is sacrificed to demons and not to God. I don’t want you to be sharing in demons.
No, what I am saying is that the things which pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice not to God but to demons; and I don’t want you to become sharers of the demons!
No, I am not! That food is really sacrificed to demons and not to God. I don’t want you to have anything to do with demons.
But that what [the nations] sacrifice they sacrifice to demons, and not to God. Now I do not wish you to be in communion with demons.
On the contrary, that the things which they are sacrificing, they are sacrificing to demons, and not to God. And I do not want you to be sharers of the demons.
But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.
But I am saying that when food is sacrificed to idols, it is an offering to demons, not to God. And I don’t want you to share anything with demons.
No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons.
No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons.
But I say that what is sacrificed to idols is offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to ·share anything [be participants; share fellowship] with demons.
Nay, but that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not unto God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with the devils.
Hardly! What I am saying is that these sacrifices which people make are made to demons and not to God. I don’t want you to be partners with demons.
No! What I am saying is that what is sacrificed on pagan altars is offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to be partners with demons.
No, but I do say that what they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to participate with demons!
But I say that what is sacrificed to idols is offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to share anything with demons.
Hardly! What they offer, they offer to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to become partners with demons.
Now am I implying that a false god really exists, or that sacrifices made to any god have some value? Not at all! I say emphatically that Gentile sacrifices are made to evil powers and not to God at all. I don’t want you to have any fellowship with such powers. You cannot drink both the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils. You cannot be a guest at the Lord’s table and at the table of devils. Are we trying to arouse the wrath of God? Have we forgotten how completely we are in his hands?
But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God; and I would not that ye should be participants of demons.
But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
No, but that the things which they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to become sharers with demons.
What I am saying is that those who offer food to these idols are united together in sacrificing to demons, certainly not to God. And I don’t want any of you to be partners with demons when you eat the same food, along with the heathen, that has been offered to these idols.
Do you see the difference? Sacrifices offered to idols are offered to nothing, for what’s the idol but a nothing? Or worse than nothing, a minus, a demon! I don’t want you to become part of something that reduces you to less than yourself. And you can’t have it both ways, banqueting with the Master one day and slumming with demons the next. Besides, the Master won’t put up with it. He wants us—all or nothing. Do you think you can get off with anything less?
But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God. I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.
No, what I am implying is that the things that people sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to be sharers with demons.
Hardly! What I am saying is that these sacrifices which people make are made to demons and not to God. I don’t want you to be partners with demons.
No, I mean that what they sacrifice, [they sacrifice] to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to become participants with demons.
No, but I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not want you to become sharers in demons.
But I say that what is sacrificed to idols is offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to share anything with demons.
No, I mean that what the pagans sacrifice is to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons.
No! But what is sacrificed by those who worship statues of gods is really sacrificed to demons. It is not sacrificed to God. I don’t want you to be sharing with demons.
No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.
No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.
Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.
No, not at all! I am saying that the people who do not know God bring gifts of animals in worship. But they have given them to demons, not to God. You do not want to have any share with demons.
No, not at all. I am saying that these sacrifices are offered to demons, not to God. And I don’t want you to participate with demons.
No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons.
No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons.
No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons.
No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons.
No: but when they offer sacrifices, they offer them to demons, not to God. And I don’t want you to be table-partners with demons.
No, the things which they sacrifice, YIZB’CHU LASHEDIM LO ELOHIM ("They sacrificed to demons which were not G-d" DEVARIM 32:17; TEHILLIM 106:37). Now I do not want you to become sharers with the shedim (demons). [VAYIKRA 17:7; DEVARIM 32:17; TEHILLIM 106:37]
No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons.
No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons.
No, I’m saying that what the pagans sacrifice is to demons and not to God, and I don’t want you to become partners with demons.
but I am saying that the outsiders’ sacrifices are actually offered to demons, not to God. So if you feast upon this food, you are feasting with demons—I don’t want you involved with demons!
But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons.
No. What I mean is this. Those people give the food to bad spirits and not to God. I do not want you to have anything to do with bad spirits.
But those things that heathen men offer, they offer to devils, and not to God. But I will not, that ye be made fellows of fiends;
[no,] but that the things that the nations sacrifice -- they sacrifice to demons and not to God; and I do not wish you to come into the fellowship of the demons.
