When David ·moved [had settled] into his ·palace [L house], he said to Nathan the prophet, “·Look [T Behold], I am living in a ·palace [L house] made of cedar, but the Ark of the ·Agreement [Testimony; Treaty; Covenant] with the Lord ·sits in [is under] a tent.”
3 David is forbidden to build an house unto the Lord. 12 Christ is promised under the figure of Solomon. 18 David giveth thanks, 23 and prayeth unto God. Now afterward when David dwelt in his house, he said to Nathan the Prophet, Behold, I dwell in an house of cedar trees, but the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant remaineth under curtains.
Once David had sat in his palace, he made an observation. David(to Nathan the prophet): I live in a sturdy house made of expensive, imported cedar, but the covenant chest of the Eternal lives in a temporary house made of curtains. This does not seem right.
Forsooth when David dwelled in his house, he said to Nathan, the prophet, Lo! I dwell in an house of cedars; and the ark of [the] bond of peace of the Lord is under skins. (And when David was in his house, he said to the prophet Nathan, Lo! I live in a cedar house; but the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord is under curtains, or in a tent.)
