10:7 fear. The biblical fear of God involves more than the dread of God’s judgment. It includes awe, reverence, and adoration in response to God’s majesty and holiness (Ps. 2:11, 12).

O King. This appellation counters claims to kingship by false deities, such as Bel Marduk in Babylon (cf. Is. 46:1; 43:15).

wise ones. Their wisdom is contrasted with the Lord’s (v. 12).
