    A Psalm of Asaph.

    Truly God is good to Israel, To such as are pure in heart.
  77. Their eyes bulge with abundance; They have more than heart could wish.
  78. Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in innocence.
  79. Thus my heart was grieved, And I was vexed in my mind.
  80. My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
  81. They said in their hearts, “Let us destroy them altogether.” They have burned up all the meeting places of God in the land.
  82. I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, And my spirit makes diligent search.
  83. And may not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not set its heart aright, And whose spirit was not faithful to God.
  84. And they tested God in their heart By asking for the food of their fancy.
  85. For their heart was not steadfast with Him, Nor were they faithful in His covenant.
  86. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

  96. Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.
  97. I will behave wisely in a perfect way. Oh, when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
  98. A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness.
  99. Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure.
  100. For my days are consumed like smoke, And my bones are burned like a hearth.
