    “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
  8. If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.
  9. And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
  10. The disciples said to him, “If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry.”

    Love Is Indispensable

  54. The Greater Glory of the New Covenant

    False Teachers and the Love of Money

    These are the things you are to teach and insist on.
  61. no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a fellow man and as a brother in the Lord.
  62. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
  63. The Son Superior to Angels

  64. Jesus Greater Than Moses

    Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.
  65. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
  66. Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation.
  67. The Certainty of God’s Promise

    When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,
  68. People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument.
  69. And without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greater.
  70. (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
  71. Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant.
  72. But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
  73. The Blood of Christ

    But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation.
  74. It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
