¹⁶ There are six things which Jehovah hateth;
Yea, seven which are an abomination ^[a]unto him:
¹⁷ Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood;
¹⁸ A heart that deviseth wicked purposes,
Feet that are swift in running to mischief,
¹⁹ A false witness that ^[b]uttereth lies,
And he that ^[c]soweth discord among brethren.

³¹ The mouth of the righteous ^[a]bringeth forth wisdom;
But the perverse tongue shall be cut off.

¹⁹ The lip of truth shall be established for ever;
But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
²⁰ Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil;
But to the counsellors of peace is joy.
²¹ There shall no mischief happen to the righteous;
But the wicked shall be filled with evil.
²² Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah;
But they that deal truly are his delight.

⁵ A righteous man hateth lying;
But a wicked man ^[a]is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

²⁵ A true witness delivereth souls;
But he that ^[a]uttereth lies causeth deceit.
