^9 (A)Honor the Lord from your wealth,
And from the ^(B)first of all your produce;

And your ^(D)vats will overflow with new wine.

¹⁵ The ^(A)rich person’s wealth is his ^[a]fortress,
The ^(B)ruin of the poor is their poverty.

^4 (A)Riches do not benefit on the day of wrath,
But ^(B)righteousness rescues from death.

²⁸ One who ^(A)trusts in his riches will fall,
But ^(B)the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.

⁸ The ransom of a person’s life is his wealth,
But the poor hears no rebuke.

²⁰ The ^(A)poor is hated even by his neighbor,
But those who love the rich are many.

²⁴ The ^(A)crown of the wise is their riches,
But the foolishness of fools is simply foolishness.

^16 (A)Better is a little with ^[a]the fear of the Lord
Than great treasure, and turmoil with ^[b]the treasure.
^17 (B)Better is a portion of ^[c]vegetables where there is love,
Than a ^(C)fattened ox served with hatred.

⁵ One who mocks the ^(A)poor taunts his Maker;
One who ^(B)rejoices at disaster will not go unpunished.
