⁵ A wise person will hear and ^(A)increase in learning,
And a ^(B)person of understanding will acquire wise counsel,

¹³ On ^(A)the lips of the discerning, wisdom is found,
But ^(B)a rod is for the back of him who has no ^[a]sense.

³³ Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding,
But among fools it is made known.

¹⁴ The ^(A)mind of the intelligent seeks knowledge,
But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.

²⁴ The ^(A)path of life leads upward for the wise,
So that he may keep away from ^[a]Sheol below.

²¹ The ^(A)wise in heart will be called understanding,
And sweetness of ^[a]speech ^(B)increases ^[b]persuasiveness.

¹⁵ The ^[a](A)mind of the discerning acquires knowledge,
And the ^(B)ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

^25 (A)Strike a scoffer and the naive may become clever,
But ^(B)rebuke one who has understanding, and he will ^[a]gain knowledge.

² Due to a ^[a]wrongdoing of ^[b]a land its leaders are ^(A)many,
But ^(B)by a person of understanding and knowledge, so it endures.
