He who despises his neighbor lacks sense,
But a man of understanding keeps silent.

²⁸Don’t ·testify [witness] against your neighbor for no good reason.
Don’t ·say things that are false [^Ldeceive with your lips].

And do not deceive with your lips [speak neither lies nor half-truths].^(A)

Proverbs 24:28 I.e. anyone who comes into your life, not necessarily one who lives nearby.
