Hear, you peoples, all of [a]you;
(A)Listen carefully, earth and [b]all it contains,
And may the Lord [c]God be a (B)witness against you,
The Lord from His holy temple.
For behold, the Lord is (C)coming forth from His place.
He will come down and (D)tread on the high places of the [d]earth.
(E)The mountains will melt under Him
And the valleys will be split,
Like wax before the fire,
Like water poured down a steep place.
All this is due to the [e]wrongdoing of Jacob
And the sins of the house of Israel.
What is the (F)[f]wrongdoing of Jacob?
Is it not (G)Samaria?
What is the (H)high [g]place of Judah?
Is it not Jerusalem?
For I will make Samaria a (I)heap of ruins [h]in the open country,
(J)Planting places for a vineyard.
I will (K)hurl her stones down into the valley,
And (L)lay bare her foundations.
All of her (M)idols will be crushed,
All of her earnings will be burned with fire,
And all of her images I will make desolate;
For she collected them from a (N)prostitute’s earnings,
And to the earnings of a prostitute they will return.

Judgment Pronounced against Samaria

Hear, you peoples, all of you;
    listen, O earth, and all that is in it,
and let the Lord God be a witness against you,
    the Lord from his holy temple.(A)
For the Lord is coming out of his place
    and will come down and tread upon the high places of the earth.(B)
Then the mountains will melt under him,
    and the valleys will burst open
like wax near the fire,
    like waters poured down a slope.(C)
All this is for the transgression of Jacob
    and for the sins of the house of Israel.
What is the transgression of Jacob?
    Is it not Samaria?
And what is the high place[a] of Judah?
    Is it not Jerusalem?(D)
Therefore I will make Samaria a heap in the open country,
    a place for planting vineyards.
I will pour down her stones into the valley
    and uncover her foundations.(E)
All her images shall be beaten to pieces,
    all her wages shall be burned with fire,
    and all her idols I will lay waste;
for as the wages of a prostitute she gathered them,
    and as the wages of a prostitute they shall again be used.(F)
