John 15:26-16:4 Wycliffe Bible (WYC)

26 But when the comforter shall come, which I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, which cometh forth of the Father [which proceedeth, or cometh forth, of the Father], he shall bear witnessing of me;

27 and ye shall bear witnessing, for ye be with me from the beginning.

16 These things I have spoken to you, that ye be not caused to stumble [that ye be not offended].

They shall make you without the synagogues, but the hour cometh, that each man that slayeth you, deem that he doeth service to God.

And they shall do to you these things, for they have not known the Father, neither me.

But these things I spake to you, that when the hour of them shall come, ye have mind, that I said to you. I said not to you these things from the beginning, for I was with you.

John 15:26-16:4 New Matthew Bible (NMB)

26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, which is the Spirit of truth who proceeds of the Father, he will testify of me. 27 And you shall bear witness also, because you have been with me from the beginning.

Consolation for trouble. Prayers are heard through Christ.

16 These things I have said to you so that you are not made to stumble. They will excommunicate you; yea, the time shall come that whoever kills you will think that he does God service. And such things they will do to you because they have not known the Father, nor me. But I have told you these things so that when that hour comes, you may remember them, that I told you so.

I did not say these things to you at the beginning, because I was present with you.

John 15:26-16:4 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV)

26 [a]But when that Comforter shall come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth of the Father, he shall testify of me.

27 And ye shall witness also, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

16 1 He foretelleth the disciples of persecution. 7 He promiseth the Comforter, and declareth his office. 21 He compareth the affliction of his, to a woman that travaileth with child.

These [b]things have I said unto you, that ye should not be offended.

They shall excommunicate you: yea the time shall come, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doeth God service.

And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

But these things have I told you, that when the hour shall come, ye might remember, that I told you them. And these things said I not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you.
