Jeremiah 1:6-10
Christian Standard Bible
6 But I protested, “Oh no, Lord God! Look, I don’t know how to speak(A) since I am only a youth.”(B)
7 Then the Lord said to me:
Do not say, “I am only a youth,”(C)
for you will go to everyone I send you to
and speak whatever I tell you.(D)
8 Do not be afraid of anyone,(E)
for I will be with you to rescue you.(F)
This is the Lord’s declaration.
9 Then the Lord reached out his hand, touched my mouth,(G) and told me:
I have now filled your mouth with my words.(H)
10 See, I have appointed you today
over nations and kingdoms
to uproot and tear down,
to destroy and demolish,(I)
to build and plant.(J)
Jeremiah 1:6-10
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy.”(A) 7 But the Lord said to me,
“Do not say, ‘I am only a boy,’
for you shall go to all to whom I send you,
and you shall speak whatever I command you.
8 Do not be afraid of them,
for I am with you to deliver you,
says the Lord.”(B)
9 Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me,
“Now I have put my words in your mouth.(C)
10 See, today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to pull down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”(D)
