Isaiah 41:5-10

New International Version

⁵The islands^(A) have seen it and fear;
    the ends of the earth^(B) tremble.
They approach and come forward;
⁶    they help each other
    and say to their companions, “Be strong!^(C)”
⁷The metalworker^(D) encourages the goldsmith,^(E)
    and the one who smooths with the hammer
    spurs on the one who strikes the anvil.
One says of the welding, “It is good.”
    The other nails down the idol so it will not topple.^(F)

⁸“But you, Israel, my servant,^(G)
    Jacob, whom I have chosen,^(H)
    you descendants of Abraham^(I) my friend,^(J)
⁹I took you from the ends of the earth,^(K)
    from its farthest corners I called^(L) you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;^(M)
    I have chosen^(N) you and have not rejected you.
¹⁰So do not fear,^(O) for I am with you;^(P)
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen^(Q) you and help^(R) you;
    I will uphold you^(S) with my righteous right hand.^(T)

The ^(B)ends of the earth tremble;
They have approached and have come.
⁶Each one helps his neighbor
And says to his brother, “Be strong!”
⁷So the ^(C)craftsman encourages the ^(D)smelter,
And he who smooths metal with the hammer encourages him who beats the anvil,
Saying of the soldering, “It is good”;
And he fastens it with nails,
^(E)So that it will not totter.
⁸“But you, Israel, ^(F)My servant,
Jacob whom I have chosen,
Descendant of ^(G)Abraham My ^(H)friend,
⁹You whom I have ^[a]^(I)taken from the ends of the earth
And called from its ^(J)remotest parts,
And said to you, ‘You are ^(K)My servant,

Do not be afraid, for I am your God.
