29 Woe to Ariel! Ariel, the city where David encamped! Add year to year; let the feasts come around; then I will distress Ariel, and there will be mourning and lamentation. She shall be to me as an altar hearth.[a] I will encamp against you all around you, and will lay siege against you with posted troops. I will raise siege works against you. Your voice will be as of one who has a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and your speech will whisper out of the dust.

29 Woe to Ariel, Ariel,
    the city where David encamped!
Add year to year;
    let the festivals run their round.(A)
Yet I will oppress Ariel,
    and there shall be moaning and lamentation,
    and you[a] shall be to me like an Ariel.[b](B)
And like David[c] I will encamp against you;
    I will besiege you with towers
    and raise siegeworks against you.(C)
Then deep from the earth you shall speak;
    from low in the dust your words shall come;
your voice shall come from the ground like the voice of a ghost,
    and your speech shall whisper out of the dust.(D)
