Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin,(A) and the priests and Levites—everyone whose heart God had moved(B)—prepared to go up and build the house(C) of the Lord in Jerusalem. All their neighbors assisted them with articles of silver and gold,(D) with goods and livestock, and with valuable gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings.

Moreover, King Cyrus brought out the articles belonging to the temple of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem and had placed in the temple of his god.[a](E) Cyrus king of Persia had them brought by Mithredath the treasurer, who counted them out to Sheshbazzar(F) the prince of Judah.

So all of their neighbors equipped the travelers[c] with silver, gold, equipment, pack animals, and valuable goods, in addition to voluntary offerings.

Temple Instruments Returned

King Cyrus also brought out from storage[d] the service instruments from the Temple of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem and had placed in the temple of his gods.[e] Cyrus, king of Persia, had them brought out to Mithredath the Treasurer, had them inventoried, and had them placed in care of[f] Sheshbazzar,[g] governor of Judah.
