(A)While the man was standing beside me, (B)I heard one speaking to me out of the temple, and he said to me, (C)“Son of man, this is (D)the place of my throne and (E)the place of the soles of my feet, (F)where I will dwell in the midst of the people of Israel forever. And the house of Israel shall no more (G)defile my holy name, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoring and by the dead bodies[a] of their kings at their high places,[b] by setting their threshold by my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with (H)only a wall between me and them. They have (I)defiled my holy name by their abominations that they have committed, so I have consumed them in my anger. Now let them put away their whoring and the dead bodies of their kings far from me, (J)and I will dwell in their midst forever.

10 “As for you, (K)son of man, (L)describe to the house of Israel the temple, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and they shall measure the plan. 11 And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, (M)make known to them the design of the temple, its arrangement, (N)its exits and its entrances, that is, its whole design; and make known to them as well all its statutes and its whole design and all its laws, and write it down (O)in their sight, so that they may observe all its laws and all its statutes and carry them out. 12 This is the law of the temple: the whole territory on the top of (P)the mountain (Q)all around shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the temple.

And I heard someone speaking to me from within the Temple, while the man who had been measuring stood beside me. The Lord said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place where I will rest my feet. I will live here forever among the people of Israel. They and their kings will not defile my holy name any longer by their adulterous worship of other gods or by honoring the relics of their kings who have died.[a] They put their idol altars right next to mine with only a wall between them and me. They defiled my holy name by such detestable sin, so I consumed them in my anger. Now let them stop worshiping other gods and honoring the relics of their kings, and I will live among them forever.

10 “Son of man, describe to the people of Israel the Temple I have shown you, so they will be ashamed of all their sins. Let them study its plan, 11 and they will be ashamed[b] of what they have done. Describe to them all the specifications of the Temple—including its entrances and exits—and everything else about it. Tell them about its decrees and laws. Write down all these specifications and decrees as they watch so they will be sure to remember and follow them. 12 And this is the basic law of the Temple: absolute holiness! The entire top of the mountain where the Temple is built is holy. Yes, this is the basic law of the Temple.
