20 After this, the Moabites and Ammonites, together with some of the Meunites,[a](A) came to fight against Jehoshaphat. People came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast number from beyond the Dead Sea and from Edom[b] has come to fight against you; they are already in Hazazon-tamar”(B) (that is, En-gedi). Jehoshaphat was afraid, and he resolved(C) to seek the Lord. Then he proclaimed a fast(D) for all Judah, who gathered to seek the Lord. They even came from all the cities of Judah to seek Him.

Jehoshaphat’s victory

20 Some time later, the Moabites and the Ammonites, along with some of the Meunites,[a] attacked Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat was told, “A large army from beyond the sea, from Edom,[b] is coming to attack you. They are already at Hazazon-tamar!” (that is, En-gedi). Frightened, Jehoshaphat decided to seek the Lord’s help and proclaimed a fast for all Judah. People from all of Judah’s cities came to ask the Lord for help.
