⁴ In him was life,^[a] and the life was the light of men. ⁵ The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

¹⁹ And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Jesus the Light of the World

¹² Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

¹² the night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light;

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people,^[a] that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
