²¹ For just as the Father raises the dead and ^(A)gives them life, so ^(B)the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.

¹¹ “^(A)I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd ^(B)lays down His life for the sheep. ¹² He who is a hired hand, and not a ^(C)shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters the flock. ¹³ He flees because he is a hired hand and does not care about the sheep. ^14 (D)I am the good shepherd, and ^(E)I know My own, and My own know Me, ¹⁵ just as ^(F)the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and ^(G)I lay down My life for the sheep. ¹⁶ And I have ^(H)other sheep that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice; and they will become ^(I)one flock, with ^(J)one shepherd.

²⁵ Jesus answered them, “^(A)I told you, and you do not believe; ^(B)the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me. ²⁶ But you do not believe, because ^(C)you are not of My sheep. ²⁷ My sheep ^(D)listen to My voice, and ^(E)I know them, and they follow Me; ²⁸ and I give them ^(F)eternal life, and they will never perish; and ^(G)no one will snatch them out of My hand.

⁵⁰ nor are you taking into account that ^(A)it is in your best interest that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish instead.” ⁵¹ Now he did not say this ^[a]on his own, but ^(B)as he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation; ⁵² and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also ^(C)gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. ⁵³ So from that day on they ^(D)planned together to kill Him.
