40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done (A)nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said [a]to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”

43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in (B)Paradise.”

Jesus Dies on the Cross(C)

44 (D)Now it [b]was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 Then the sun was [c]darkened, and (E)the veil of the temple was torn in [d]two. 46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, (F)‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ (G)Having said this, He breathed His last.

47 (H)So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous Man!”

48 And the whole crowd who came together to that sight, seeing what had been done, beat their breasts and returned. 49 (I)But all His acquaintances, and the women who followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.

Jesus Buried in Joseph’s Tomb(J)

50 (K)Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man. 51 He had not consented to their decision and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, (L)who[e] himself was also waiting for the kingdom of God. 52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 53 (M)Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before. 54 That day was (N)the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near.

55 And the women (O)who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and (P)they observed the tomb and how His body was laid. 56 Then they returned and (Q)prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath (R)according to the commandment.

He Is Risen(S)

24 Now (T)on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, [f]and certain other women with them, came to the tomb (U)bringing the spices which they had prepared. (V)But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. (W)Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were [g]greatly perplexed about this, that (X)behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! (Y)Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be (Z)delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’

And (AA)they remembered His words. (AB)Then they returned from the tomb and told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, (AC)Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles. 11 (AD)And their words seemed to them like [h]idle tales, and they did not believe them. 12 (AE)But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths [i]lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.

40 And the other answering, was rebuking him, saying, `Dost thou not even fear God, that thou art in the same judgment?

41 and we indeed righteously, for things worthy of what we did we receive back, but this one did nothing out of place;'

42 and he said to Jesus, `Remember me, lord, when thou mayest come in thy reign;'

43 and Jesus said to him, `Verily I say to thee, To-day with me thou shalt be in the paradise.'

44 And it was, as it were, the sixth hour, and darkness came over all the land till the ninth hour,

45 and the sun was darkened, and the vail of the sanctuary was rent in the midst,

46 and having cried with a loud voice, Jesus said, `Father, to Thy hands I commit my spirit;' and these things having said, he breathed forth the spirit.

47 And the centurion having seen what was done, did glorify God, saying, `Really this man was righteous;'

48 and all the multitudes who were come together to this sight, beholding the things that came to pass, smiting their breasts did turn back;

49 and all his acquaintances stood afar off, and women who did follow him from Galilee, beholding these things.

50 And lo, a man, by name Joseph, being a counsellor, a man good and righteous,

51 -- he was not consenting to their counsel and deed -- from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who also himself was expecting the reign of God,

52 he, having gone near to Pilate, asked the body of Jesus,

53 and having taken it down, he wrapped it in fine linen, and placed it in a tomb hewn out, where no one was yet laid.

54 And the day was a preparation, and sabbath was approaching,

55 and the women also who have come with him out of Galilee having followed after, beheld the tomb, and how his body was placed,

56 and having turned back, they made ready spices and ointments, and on the sabbath, indeed, they rested, according to the command.

24 And on the first of the sabbaths, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bearing the spices they made ready, and certain [others] with them,

and they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb,

and having gone in, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

And it came to pass, while they are perplexed about this, that lo, two men stood by them in glittering apparel,

and on their having become afraid, and having inclined the face to the earth, they said to them, `Why do ye seek the living with the dead?

he is not here, but was raised; remember how he spake to you, being yet in Galilee,

saying -- It behoveth the Son of Man to be delivered up to the hands of sinful men, and to be crucified, and the third day to rise again.'

And they remembered his sayings,

and having turned back from the tomb told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.

10 And it was the Magdalene Mary, and Joanna, and Mary of James, and the other women with them, who told unto the apostles these things,

11 and their sayings appeared before them as idle talk, and they were not believing them.

12 And Peter having risen, did run to the tomb, and having stooped down he seeth the linen clothes lying alone, and he went away to his own home, wondering at that which was come to pass.

40 But the other responded, and rebuking him, said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving [a]what we deserve for our crimes; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!” 43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in (A)Paradise.”

44 (B)It was now about [b](C)the sixth hour, and darkness came over the entire land until [c]the ninth hour, 45 [d]because the sun stopped shining; and (D)the veil of the temple was torn [e]in two. 46 And Jesus, (E)crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, (F)into Your hands I entrust My spirit.” And having said this, He [f]died. 47 (G)Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he began (H)praising God, saying, “This man was in fact [g]innocent.” 48 And all the crowds who came together for this spectacle, after watching what had happened, began to return home, [h](I)beating their chests. 49 (J)And all His acquaintances and (K)the women who accompanied Him from Galilee were standing at a distance, seeing these things.

Jesus Is Buried

50 (L)And a man named Joseph, who was a (M)member of the Council, a good and righteous man 51 (he had not consented to their plan and action), a man from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who was (N)waiting for the kingdom of God— 52 this man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 53 And he took it down and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid Him in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had ever lain. 54 It was a [i](O)preparation day, and a Sabbath was about to [j]begin. 55 Now (P)the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was laid. 56 And then they returned and (Q)prepared spices and perfumes.

And (R)on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

The Resurrection

24 (S)But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of (T)the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, (U)two men suddenly (V)stood near them in gleaming clothing; and as [k]the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why are you seeking the living One among the dead? He is not here, but He (W)has [l]risen. Remember how He spoke to you (X)while He was still in Galilee, saying that (Y)the Son of Man must be handed over to sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise from the dead.” And (Z)they remembered His words, and returned from the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest. 10 Now these women were (AA)Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James; also the other women with them were telling these things to (AB)the apostles. 11 But these words appeared [m]to them as nonsense, and they (AC)would not believe [n]the women. 12 Nevertheless, Peter got up and (AD)ran to the tomb; and when he stooped and looked in, he *saw the linen wrappings [o]only; and he went away (AE)to his [p]home, marveling at what had happened.
