47 But the tribe of Dan had trouble taking possession of their land,[a] so they attacked the town of Laish.[b] They captured it, slaughtered its people, and settled there. They renamed the town Dan after their ancestor.

47 The territory of the sons of Dan [a]went beyond these; so the sons of Dan went up to fight against Leshem (Laish) and captured it.
