Isaiah 8:9-16

New International Version

⁹ Raise the war cry,^[a](A) you nations, and be shattered!^(B)
    Listen, all you distant lands.
Prepare^(C) for battle, and be shattered!
    Prepare for battle, and be shattered!
¹⁰ Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted;^(D)
    propose your plan, but it will not stand,^(E)
    for God is with us.^[b](F)

¹² “Do not call conspiracy^(I)
    everything this people calls a conspiracy;
do not fear what they fear,^(J)
    and do not dread it.^(K)
13 The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy,^(L)
    he is the one you are to fear,^(M)
    he is the one you are to dread.^(N)
14 He will be a holy place;^(O)
    for both Israel and Judah he will be
a stone^(P) that causes people to stumble^(Q)
    and a rock that makes them fall.^(R)
And for the people of Jerusalem he will be
    a trap and a snare.^(S)
15 Many of them will stumble;^(T)
    they will fall and be broken,
    they will be snared and captured.”

¹⁶ Bind up this testimony of warning^(U)
    and seal^(V) up God’s instruction among my disciples.
