17 If any of the families of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, there will be no rain upon them.(A) 18 And if the family of Egypt do not go up and present themselves, there will be no rain for them; there will be the plague that the Lord inflicts on the nations that do not go up to keep the Festival of Booths.[a](B) 19 Such shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to keep the Festival of Booths.[b](C)

17 Whoever among the families of the earth doesn’t go up to Jerusalem to pay homage to the king, the Lord of heavenly forces, upon them no rain will fall.
18 And if the family of Egypt doesn’t go up and doesn’t present itself, then no rain[a] will fall on them. There will[b] be a plague like the one with which the Lord struck the nations that didn’t go up to celebrate the Festival of Booths.
19 This would be the sin of Egypt and the sin of all the nations who don’t go up to celebrate the Festival of Booths.
